Let's go to Guthrie for Frights In The First Capital!

This month is full of Frights in the First Capital for all ages!

For the little people in your life, the Oklahoma Territorial Museum at 406 E Oklahoma Avenue is hosting their annual History Never Dies Halloween Carnival on Saturday, October 26th, from 4-7 p.m. This free, family-friendly event will have an It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966) film theme.

Families can enjoy carnival games, treats, prizes, and a cake walk at the three-hour event.

Refreshments and hot dogs will be served free to all guests. Enjoy Halloween-themed activities inside the museum—family-friendly costumes are encouraged! Downtown Trick-or-Treating, hosted by the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce, is on Thursday, October 31st--Halloween day--from 4-6pm. Downtown Guthrie will be blocked off on Harrison Ave from Division to 2nd and on Oklahoma Ave from 2nd to Wentz. Also on Halloween day, Guthrie Public Library, at 201 N Division St., is sponsoring Trunk-or-Treat from 3:30-6 p.m, so be sure and bring your costumed kiddos out for a safe, fun, family friendly afternoon of trick or treating!

For the more mature fans of fright, Guthrie is home to the #1 haunted house in Oklahoma—Guthrie Haunts, located at 4524 Riverside Circle on Hwy 77 just past the Cimarron bridge. It is now considered a Super Haunt Covering over 30,000 sq feet of indoor and outdoor scares! It is open Friday and Saturday nights through November 2nd, with blackout nights on November 8th and 9th. Advanced tickets in a variety of options and price points are available at guthriehaunts.com. Box office is open 7 p.m.-Midnight.

For history buffs and those who relish in a good ghost story, Guthrie Ghost Walk, Where Mystery Meets History, is celebrating its tenth year and is sure to deliver a delightful evening! Guthrie Ghost Walk, “A Walking Ghost Tour of Historic Downtown Guthrie”, is a 90-minute walk in the downtown Historic District, accessible to most everyone. The total distance is between 4 and 6 blocks. They do not go inside any locations. All walks meet at the Apothecary Garden at 214 W. Oklahoma in downtown Guthrie (Oklahoma and 2nd Street). For reservations, call or text 405-293-8404. The walks are $10 for ages 15 and up, $5 for ages 7-15, kids under 7 free. You may pay with cash, card, venmo, or cashapp at the start of the walk. The first two weekends of October, there will be both Friday and Saturday walks starting at 7:15 p.m. and a second 10 p.m. walk on those Saturdays. The third and fourth weekends of October offer the same options on Friday and Saturdays as well as a 7:15 walk on Sunday, and of course, there is a 7:15 walk on Halloween night! Additional dates and times are available upon request for groups of at least 6 people.
